Meredith Whitney is an American business woman and entrepreneur who has a net worth of $10 million. Meredith Whitney was born in November 1969 and grew up in New Jersey. She graduated from The Madeira School and was a member of the first co-ed graduating class at The Lawrenceville School. Whitney graduated with honors from Brown University in 1992. She joined Oppenheimer as a Director in 1993 and joined their Specialty Finance Group in 1995. Whitney left Oppenheimer to become Executive Director for Wachovia in 1998 and later returned to Oppenheimer in 2004 as Managing Director.

In 2009 she resigned and started her own firm Meredith Whitney Advisory Group LLC. She started the hedge fund Kenbelle Capital LP in 2013. She gained notoriety in 2007 when she wrote a pessimistic report on Citigroup. She was named the 2nd best stock picker in the capital-market industry by Forbes.com in 2007 and was named one of the 50 most powerful women in New York City by the New York Post. In 2005 Meredith married retired professional wrestler and Fox News contributor John "Bradshaw" Layfield.
