She moved to Nashville, Tennessee after graduating high school and started playing at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. She was signed to a record deal by Keith Stegall of PolyGram/Mercury Records in 1994. Clark released her self-titled debut studio album in 1995. The album was certified 3x Platinum in Canada and Platinum in the US.
It reached #2 on the Canadian Country and #13 on the US Country charts.
